I may be out of touch for a week or two, but before I go, I wanted to write a few quick thoughts:

Gas is under $3 in Oregon again

Fall colors are beautiful

Sprinkler systems are a lot of work to install (props to David)

It may one day come to the regretable point where the only way to stimulate the economy is to create a more drawn out election process, if that is possible

I just found an interesting article about how French Muslims are flocking to Catholic schools because the education is better and they have more religious freedom. That would make a very interesting dynamic.
