We were just reading Matthew 7 where it talks about some people coming to Jesus at judgment and saying 'Didn't we prophesy and drive out demons and perform miracles in your name?' I find it interesting that no one is being turned away saying 'Didn't we feed the hungry and take care of the orphan and widow in your name?' Maybe not a profound thought, but it is interesting. What may be an interesting implication is that sacrificial giving and compassion in Jesus' name is a more sure indication of someone being sent from God than an amazing miracle in Jesus' name.

I've been doing a lot of bill paying and such recently (its not very much fun). But of the things that I've found, there have been a few deals that I think really are good deals. The only way to fly out of Klamath Falls is to use Alaska Airlines, so we signed up for one of their credit cards. I also found that they have a buy-in option for their frequent flier people, that you pay about $150 to get into. The nice thing about these two programs is that, you get companion tickets for cheap or free. That means that for the price of about $75 (annual fee for the credit card) I get a $50 companion ticket. So if I fly somewhere, Anna can come for just 50 buck. Or with the buy-in thing I get two free companion tickets. Unfortunetly, they have blackout dates from Dec 20-Jan 8, so we can't use them for visiting my parents for Christmas. But when we have to fly out to training camp in Florida, it will probably save us a good four hundred dollars. Plus they have extra thousands of bonus miles for when we book using their credit card, etc. So if you know you're going to be flying one airlines a lot like we are, you might look into getting one of their credit cards.

Also we got a membership at REI, which seems like a great deal. For $15, we got a discount that was more than the price for lifetime membership, better return policy, and access to some potentially really good deals. This is quite a bit better than membership at a lot of other stores, so if you like camping stuff, you might check this out. Admittedly, REI is more expensive than other outdoor stores, but I was really impressed by the quality of everything there.

We finally got our wedding pictures back. Go to here and enter the code 73299Wannacaleb then you sign in using our account by going to 'sign in now' and putting in Anna's email address (xephyr137 - gmail - com). Unfortunetly they all say PROOF PROOF on them, but then that's what you get for working with a professional photographer. There are a lot of pictures and it does take a while to go through, so here's a short index:

Pages 1-17: Anna, her family, her bridesmaids
Pages 18-19: Caleb and his family
Pages 20-25: Caleb, groomsmen, and nephews
Pages 26-38: Ceremony (check out number 221)
Pages 38-44: Caleb & Anna

I'm really tired. If you've been praying that I would get more work please stop. Pray rather that I would have enough strength to get through the work I have or that I'd find the right balance. Right now I have three part time jobs. I work for Fall Photography with Anna, I substitute for the school district and I still teach two community college classes. Most days I only have one or two of them, but on Tuesday, I had all three. Now that was a long day! Most days I come home and fall asleep long before I mean to. This weekend we're going up to Hillsboro for a missions conference at my church. You could also pray that Anna gets her school work done and all of her paperwork in so that she can finish soon.

By the way, subbing is an interesting job. I think it will take me a while before I can figure out how to keep 25+ third and fourth graders' collective attention and still manage to teach them something. On my last job (which incidently was at the school where my grandfather went when he was a kid), I had about six boys and I never could get them all to be quiet and pay attention. It wasn't until one of them got in a fight with another boy and I had to send them to the principal's office that I finally got them to listen. They also sent down another teacher, probably because they figured I couldn't handle the situation, which might have been the case. But they did behave much better after he yelled at them about how ashamed he was of their behavior. I wonder if that was how they normally acted, or if it was me, or if it was just that they were wound up from it being Halloween.

I closed the day out by watching Disney's old Sleepy Hollow. Out of all the different teachers I've read about or watched in movies or tv, I really don't associate well with Ichabod Crane. Maybe I should go with the Teacher from the Black Lagoon or something.
