Chris Tomlin - Indescribable
From the album Arriving

From the highest of heights to the depths of the sea,
Creation's revealing Your majesty.
From the colors of fall to the fragrance of spring,
Every creature unique in the song that it sings. All exclaiming...

(Chorus)
Indescribable, Uncontainable,
You placed the stars in the sky and You know them by name.
You are amazing God.
All powerful, Untameable,
Awestruck we fall to our knees and we humbly proclaim,
You are amazing God.

Who has told every lightning bolt where it should go,
Or seen heavenly storehouses laden with snow?
Who imagined the sun and gives source to its light,
Yet conceals it to give us the coolness of night?
None can fathom...

(Chorus)

Incomparable, Unchangeable,
You see the depths of my heart and You love me the same.
You are amazing God.

i haven't heard this song before, but i really like the lyrics. they reference psalm 147 it seems, which is one of my favorite psalms.
as far as the 'name in vain' post that i've been meaning to post for a while now- since studying exodus a year ago, i have begun to have a deeper understanding of the importance of God's name. exodus 3 and 33-34 are especially revealing, but basically, God makes a big deal out of telling his name to israel and as he reveals more of his name, he establishes more and more of a relationship with them. it's interesting to see what is said throughout the Bible on the subject of the name of God particularly related to salvation- there is no other name under heaven by which men may be saved, all who call on the name of the Lord shall be saved, the name of the Lord is a strong tower, the righteous run into it and they are saved, etc. also, going back to the exodus passages, God's attributes are often associated with his name- the Lord whose name is jealous, bless his holy name, holy and awesome is his name, etc.
so in light of all that (not to mention the sorts of things that are done in the name of the Lord and the meaning of calling on his name...), i think a lot of using his name in vain just has to do with the awesome significance of the fact that he has given us a name with which to call on him. so using that name, with which he associates his attributes and through which he dispenses his power, in any sort of a way that is not worthy of the most holy God is so unthinkable i can't even figure out how to end this sentence.
i suppose this is a really long post for a blog, but it's one of my favorite biblical subjects. and you asked. so there.
