Fear of the Lord

I often used to wonder about whether 'fear of the Lord' meant actually being afraid of God. I got a small taste of that tonight reading 1 Chronicles 21 about how one man's sin caused 75,000 deaths. I felt a very small bit of the fear that Araunah felt when he looked over and saw the angel of death standing in his threshing floor. Once I got to the end I didn't want to read it again beacuse I was so scared. I wasn't afraid that God would do this to me because Jesus was killed to pay for my sins so I am now innocent in God's sight. But I am truly afraid for those who will have to pay for their own sin with their lives, their eternal souls. Death is waiting but will not wait forever.
