Fully God and Fully Man
I was reading my friend Renea's Blog and an interesting thought occurred to me. If Jesus could see all of our hearts while He was here on earth, and knew that people would reject Him, wouldn't that make it all the harder? In a sense, Jesus' divinity must have actually made it harder to die for everyone. As He was suffering on the cross, He could see that these people would just reject Him and then persecute the people anyone who wanted to believe. Think about the kind of self-restraint that He must have had to be able to destroy the world and relieve His anguish. Or even to resist the temptation to look through time, see those who would ultimately believe, and rescue them all and get rid of everyone else. I don't believe there was a 'divine discipline' that allowed Him to make those decisions easily or to not give Him any choice but to do what He did. If there was, then why did He sweat blood in the garden and why would we honor Him? No, Jesus battled temptation more than we ever could and He is more than worthy of all of our praise.
